Lara’s Integrative Movement |
Lara Polsky Gillease Asheville, North Carolina lara@integrativemovement.com 1. 877. 544. 2828 |
The Feldenkrais Method and Anat Baniel Method are gentle, guided movement methods that teach you how to move differently to relieve chronic pain and/or become more skillful in your activities as well as aid those with specific conditions. |
You can resolve chronic or habitual pain and facilitate healing from injury or become better at what you already do. While lying or sitting comfortably, a series of instructive movements help relax tense areas, alter habitual patterns, and provide new movement options. The instructions are communicated through slow, gentle touch and verbal cues. Most people experience a profound sense of deep relaxation and renewed freedom that can restore ease, comfort and an increase in range of motion. |

The Originators of the Methods |
Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais was a physicist, engineer and judo master who pioneered a learning system that utilizes movement and awareness of self to bring about remarkable changes in the human mind and body. Based on his understanding of the central nervous system he created a mode that incorporates over 1,000 movement-lessons and personalized hands-on teachings. These are designed around specific functions that make it possible for the brain to organize action more effectively. Anat Baniel, who knew Dr. Feldenkrais since childhood, began her long professional relationship with Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais in 1973 as his apprentice. From 1977 to 1981 she taught in Dr. Feldenkrais' Institute in Tel-Aviv and became a trainer for him in 1981. Since that time she has become a world renowned practitioner, teacher and lecturer in her own right. For over 30 years Ms. Baniel has worked as a trainer, teacher and private practitioner. Her experience has evolved her original training into the Anat Baniel Method that combines the teachings of Dr. Feldenkrais with her own vast experience, helping others and teaching others to help themselves in amazing ways. |
I was stiff and in pain much of the time when I began coming to Lara. I move more confidently, more effortlessly. I am more at ease in my body and I feel stronger. I am comfortable with me. |
